Bargain at the Flea Market

Trunk Fresh - my second hauler. And my last. Or not.

Ok ok ok OKAY! I KNOW!

I KNOW I said erlier in a post some years ago (!) that I should restrict my collection NOT to include haulers. But just WAIT until you get the whole picture here!

So. Here it is. The whole picture:

A picture sent by a friend who was visiting a flea market this saturday.
I got a text and a pic from a friend this saturday. He was at a flea market. "Something of interest?"
"No" I answered. Then he told me that the cars were in mint condition and the price was low. So I asked him about the Trunk Fresh Hauler. "50 SEK but I´ll get it down a bit more!"
50 Swedish Crowns are something like 7 USD. That is cheap, even for the US, right? Here, a new one is like five times that.
So I couldnt resist.

Final price? 40 SEK (like 5,50 USD)
The left side opens up neatly. Plenty of place for Trunk Fresh Race Car.

A ramp for the Piston Cup Race Car. Everything in perfect condition.

Now I got both Trunk Fresh and Nitroade Haulers. And just as I thought in the beginning of my collecting career - they simply take too much space.

So this is the last one.

At least for now.

Treassure hunt at home

It all started with a juice accident.

A was playing with the apple juice pack and suddenly he had juice all over himself and that was the start of that morning.
I yelled at him and then I regret that. He ran into the bath room and locked the door.

After a few minutes when I tried to get him out, a disgruntled voice answered:

- I won´t come out unless we have a treassure hunt tonight.

So we did.

I bought two toy/sweet-things for about a dollar each. And then I draw some pictures and put them on the places I´ve painted above. (The picture above was divied into five different clues.)

Fun!

Rip Clutchgoneski - rare and... ugly

Ok, don´t get upset now, all you people from the Republic of New Rearendia - but I do consider Rip Clutchgoneski the least good looking car by all the World Grand Prix Race Cars.

By far.

All the other 10 cars come from real countries and, with the exception of Lightning McQueen, they are based on real cars. But Rip is a total made up character.

And it´s not that I don´t think Pixar should use their imagination to the fullest. And it´s not that I think a movie like Cars or Cars 2 need to be "realistic" - I know that would be impossible - AND bad.

It´s just that... He´s so darn... UGLY!

The colors... The forms. The name. Even the joke-made-up-country is bad...

And as a diecast - it´s not very well done either. The Rims are a lot bigger on the model than in the movie and that makes him look kind of clumsy.

According to the Cars: Character Encyclopedia book, Rip was actually meant to die during the first World Grand Prix race, hence his name Rip (Rest In Peace). This did not happen. I´m very glad, because I can´t see how they should have pulled that of in a nice way in a movie like Cars 2.

Action/feelgood for kids WITH SOME MURDERS! Now worries, no real cars were harmed during the recordings...

Now. Having these complains said... I am very happy to have Rip aboard! Now my Race Car collecion from Cars 2 finally is complete!

And a good thing with the not so good looking cars is - all the other cars now looks twice as good!

New Car - Becky Wheelin

This is Becky Wheelin. Not a character of any imoportance but the Mini Cooper is a pretty cool car. It was originally a car made by BMC - The British Motor Company. You can read more about that car here - where I wrote about Austin Littleton:
But the Mini Cooper has not so much to do with the original Mini. When the Mini re-appeared 2001 it was now owned by BMW. The New MINI is spelled with capital letters, and it´s not just the letters that are bigger. The whole car is a lot larger now. And so is the diecast model.

Although I love the paint job on the roof and the rear view mirrors, Becky Wheelin is not a super favourite. A well done diecast of a pretty cool car. But I choose the old one any day of the week.

I bought the car last friday on the flower shop. It now turns out they have a web shop - so check this out fellow collectors! www.carsmastaren.se (means the master of cars) But prices are high, and we are already high here in Europe. But maybe you´ll find that illusive car you´re trying to find so hard...
Good Luck!

My heart goes out to Eli & Ethan Davis

This is a story made known by Take Five A Day - please take a few minutes and read. The Davis family is going through one of the worst things you could ever imagine. And maybe you could help.

Read about it here.

If you have a Lightning McQueen or a Mater extra around at home, that could mean a lot to them!

Great gift from Tom - Rip Clutchgoneski and 4 lemons

Every car collector should have a friend like Tom!

Look what he sent me - just like that:

The most welcome car in this great six pack (Well he sent a Lightning McQueen and the Dinoco Chick Hicks TOO but A and V got them. Yes. I gave two toy cars. To my kids. A sign of temporary sanity...)
Anyhow... the most welcome car is Rip Clutchgoneski!
He is the 11th Race Car in Cars 2 and the last one in my collection. Yes! Now I´ve got ´em all! Mooooahahaha! World domination to follow!

But I also love the four new* Lemons!
*) Grem and Acer isn´t new, only variants with gun and torch. But I really fancy the Lemon-cars so I dig the variants almost as if they were different cars.

Petey Pacer IS an entirely new Lemon:
And so is J Curby Gremlin:
As for the last of my new little friends, he is a type of car I´ve been concidering to start to collect. He is one of the officials that surrounds the Piston Cup Race in the first Cars movie. Dexter Hoover:
This one is actually Dexter Hoover with Yellow Flag. There´s two variants, one with a black&white chess-type of flag (to wave when cars cross the finnishing line) and one with a green flag.

Thank you Tom! I´m going to send you an email with a photo of A and V with their cars. A very adecuate question is - who is the most happy one? Me or my kids?
